With new releases of their most popular sports titles every year, it only makes sense that EA would shutdown the servers for its older sports titles -- and that's exactly what they're doing. Among those having their online portion shut down this January are FIFA 11, NBA Jam, Madden NFL 11 and FIFA Manager 11.
EA released a statement explaining their decisions:
The decisions to retire older EA games are never easy [...] But as games get replaced with newer titles, the number of players still enjoying the older games dwindles to a level -- fewer than one percent of all peak online players across all EA titles -- where it's no longer feasible to continue the behind-the-scenes work involved with keeping these games up and running.
The complete list of titles getting cut are:
January 3, 2013
January 11, 2013
January 14, 2013
January 19, 2013
