Star Wars 1313 is a current-gen game; will release on PS3 this year according to Sony

NeoGaf user RaGMasTeR90 found this on the official Sony PlayStation German Facebook page: "Star Wars 1313 erscheint 2013 für PlayStation 3." What that translates to is: Star Wars 1313 releases in 2013 for PlayStation 3. With little news coming out about the game since last year's E3, it might come as a surprise to some gamers that Star Wars 1313 will be a current-gen console game. The update was posted with screenshots and artwork for the game.

If you remember the trailer that was shown during E3, the visuals look amazing. They were simply too good for current-gen consoles. With this announcement by Sony, however, it appears that Star Wars 1313 will be a cross-generation title -- it will release on both current-gen and next-gen consoles.

If the post on Facebook was indeed true and not a fake, it is reasonable to assume that 1313 will release on PC and Xbox 360 in 2013, as well. What we do know is that the game was developed using Unreal Engine 3 and that the trailers and videos we've seen thus far have been captured from a PC.

With new console announcements expected from Microsoft and Sony at E3, there's no way Star Wars 1313 won't be a next-gen game. Whether the Xbox 360 and PS3 run the game with the same visual gusto that we've seen is another matter. Regardless, it's going to look great on PC.
