Suda51 gives some new details on Killer is Dead

Suda51 of Grasshopper Manufacture has revealed some new details about their new game Killer is Dead. Most notably, Killer is Dead is in the same universe as Killer 7 and No More Heroes, but Suda51 said that while the game "picks up where Killer 7 and No More Heroes left off," it's not a direct sequel to either game; it's the first game in the company's assassin series since those two games.

Much like Killer 7 and No More Heroes, visuals will shape the game. If you remember those two games, the art style was really unique and intense. Both the graphics and gore have been upgraded for current-gen consoles, and Suda51 said, "It's not trying to regress into the past. We're trying to make a game that we'd only be able to make right now, at this point in time. The result is seen in our unique high-contrast shading seen in the graphics, as well as the high-speed wrestling-like action."

As for the story, Suda51 explained: "It's the story of a man who doesn't show himself much in the public world, but still worms his way into society and mercilessly eliminates the evil dispersed in it. It's a personal story, not one that's conscious of the chaos going on in the real world at the moment, but you might get more than a taste of that in the end anyway."

Killer Is Dead follows Mondo Zappa, a 35-year-old man with cybernetic implants. Set in the near future, he is sent on a mission to execute assassins. To carry out these missions, he is armed with a sword for melee combat, and he has a gun arm that transforms into drills and other objects, which he can use to absorb the blood of his enemies to charge a powerful sword attack.

The first time I hear of Killer Is Dead, I had no idea what it was. The GameZone staff showed me this creepy picture (I think found from Reddit) that said those words. Now we know it has nothing to do with the Suda51 game, but regardless, it didn't stop them from printing up that creepy picture and hanging it above my desk...
